A Leek cafe is closing, its owners have said.

Gallagher's Deli & Kitchen on St Edward Street in Leek has thanked all of its customers for their support ahead of its closure.

It appears that the owners will now instead be focusing on their new cafe and bistro, Duck Goose, which is also in Leek.

However, they did add that Gallagher's could return in the future if a new premises can be found.

A spokesperson for Gallagher's said yesterday (Wednesday 27th April): "It is with a heavy heart that we must officially bid farewell to Gallagher's Deli & Kitchen.

"We may look to revive this in the not so distant future to a slightly larger premises should the opportunity arise, but for now we must goodbye.

"We had the time of our lives working behind that counter, we put our heart and soul into every detail and the memories will last a lifetime.

"We'd like to thank everybody who supported us then, and continues to support us now, we are truly humbled."

The cafe's customers have since taken to social media to tell the local business that they will be missed.

One person commented: "So sad to hear this. You've kept me fed through lockdown and after. But onwards and upwards, Duck Goose is fabulous."

Another added: "The Yorkshire pudding wraps will be missed! I can't wait to come and have a meal at Duck Goose next Saturday, our last one was amazing!"

While a third said: "Thank you for all the good times and gorgeous lunches."
