Moorlands MP Karen Bradley is among 287 MPs who have now been banned from Russia.

Russia has accused the banned MPs of promoting "Russophobic hysteria" in Britain following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Russia says the bans were brought in as a response to British restrictions on members of the lower house of Russian parliament.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson has since told MPs to regard the ban as a "badge of honour" with many MPs expressing pride that they were on the list.

Other MPs have expressed disappointment that they were not included in the ban.

Conservative and Labour MPs were both included in the ban, although the Russian list appears to be out of date as it includes several people who lost their seats in the 2019 election. Some MPs were also listed twice.

Boris Johnson said in Parliament yesterday (Wednesday 27th April): "It's I think no disrespect to those who haven't been sanctioned, when I say that all those 287 should regard it as a badge of honour.

"And what we will do is keep up our robust and principled support for the Ukrainian people and their right to protect their lives, their families, and to defend themselves.

"That's what this country is doing, and that has the overwhelming support, I think, of the whole House."

A translation of the Russian foreign ministry statement on the sanctions reads: "These persons, who are now banned from entering the Russian Federation, took the most active part in the establishment of anti-Russian sanctions instruments in London (and) contribute to the groundless whipping up of Russophobic hysteria in the UK," it read.

"The hostile rhetoric and far-fetched accusations coming from the lips of British parliamentarians not only condone the hostile course of London, aimed at demonising our country and its international isolation, but are also used by opponents of a mutually respectful dialogue with Russia to undermine the foundation of bilateral co-operation."
