We're halfway through 2022, so we thought we'd take a look back at what has happened in our town over the past six months.

Leek Nub News has grown exponentially over the past half-a-year, so you may have missed some of the best stories we've produced in 2022.

No. 5 This popular Leek café has been put up for sale

The year started off with sad news as quaint café Keik was put on the market in January.

We must confess, it is only until reading the story back now, that we realise that the business is pronounced 'cake'.

No. 4 Leek teacher given job at JCB after escaping war in Ukraine

A feel good story with international significance. This story takes us back to early May.

Harry Richardson, who taught English at Leek College, became trapped in Ukraine following the Russian invasion after moving there around three years ago with his Ukrainian wife, Alina.

Following the outbreak of the war he and his family were eventually able to flee across the border to Moldova before finally being issued visas to return to the UK and Leek.

No. 3 Leek boy grows hair for two years to donate to Princess Trust

This story from April will warm your heart.

Taking the bronze medal as our third most read Leek Nub News story of the year (so far) is a Leek lad who grew his hair our long for charity.

The boy decided to donate his hair to the Little Princess Trust, so wigs could be made for children suffering from cancer.

No. 2 New plans submitted to transform old Leek mill site into 57 retirement apartments

A Birmingham developer wants to breathe life into a site on Southbank Street. Would you like to see a retirement home there?

The historic site was used as a silk mill since at least 1879, but much of it was destroyed in a fire in the 1960s, with the area then being used for storage and an antiques showroom.

Despite being published in August 2021, it is still raking astronomical amounts of views in 2022, becoming our second most read story of the year (technically).

No. 1 This unbelievable Leek mansion has an indoor pool - it's on the market for £850,000

Reported on a whole two months before our competitors, this Leek mansion story also became our most read of the year (so far).

It looks like all of you want to live in a mansion, as this story hit the four figures and then some becoming an instant success.

The property boasts an indoor pool, six bedrooms and a Victorian exterior. All for just £850,000.

We may be mistaken, but we can't find the property online now. So it may have sold! Read more about it here.
