Staffordshire Police has unveiled their latest cars which will be used to visit you if you call 999.

The first three hybrid Volvo V60 Cross Country models are ready to be deployed, following the launch of the new local policing model on Monday 27 June.

The vehicles have all-wheel drive so that officers can operate in a variety of road conditions.

In a statement, Staffordshire Police said:

"They are more environmentally friendly as hybrid vehicles, and they have been built using the latest LED lighting technology to provide the best luminosity.

"They also have an enhanced reflective livery to provide great visibility for both officer and public safety."

A further 33 vehicles will be arriving in the coming months. So expect to see them should - heaven forbid - you be involved in an emergency in Leek.

Director of Enabling Services, John Bloomer, said: "Investing in our fleet of emergency vehicles and making sure it is modern, sustainable and resilient is extremely important. As well as being greener and better for the environment, our new vehicles will help to keep the public safe, and support enhanced response times from our new approach to local policing.

"Whilst there are well-publicised long lead times for delivery of new vehicles we are committed to providing our officers with the right resources, including the latest technology and kit, to deliver the best possible service."

As well as the upcoming 33, it is expected more cars of this kind will be introduced across Leek and Staffordshire in the coming years, with all institutions keen to reduce their impact on the environment.
