Leek's branch of Barclays is due to close for good following an update posted on the bank's website.
An update posted on the Barclays website on Friday (17th June), under the UK branch closures section, states that the Leek branch of Barclays on Haywood Street will be closing in just over three months time.
The date of closure has been announced as Friday, 23rd September.
A document was also released by Barclays, giving the reasons for the closure of the branch.
A spokesperson for the bank explained: "The number of counter transactions has gone down in the previous 24 months, and additionally 85% of our branch customers also use other ways to do their banking such as online and by telephone.
"Customers using other ways to do their banking has increased by 15% since 2016.
"In the past 12 months, 14% of this branch's customers have been using nearby branches.
"We've identified that only 21 customers use this branch exclusively for their banking."
They added: "Before we make the decision to close any branch, we think carefully about how it has been used so far.
"We consider how many customers have been visiting, what kind of transactions they've been making, and all the other ways they've been choosing to bank with us. We also take into consideration the availability of other branches in the wider community."
The document said that following the closure of the Leek branch, customers could use some of the other Barclays branches, the closest of which are located in Kidsgrove and Hanley.
They added that there are also two nearby free cash machines at the Co-op and Natwest, which are both on Derby Street.
They also noted that there is a post office on Leek High Street, and also one on Cheadle Road in Wetley Rocks.
