Trees were brought down, roads were blocked and events were cancelled in Leek today (Friday 18th February) as Storm Eunice brought heavy winds to the town.
Derby Street, which would usually have at least a few shoppers looking around the selection of local traders, was deserted as people stayed at home sheltering from the storm.
Fallen trees also caused disruption in several areas of the town.
A tree was uprooted on a pavement on Haregate Road, and fallen branches on Cheddleton Road landed dangerously close to a car, blocking the road for oncoming traffic.
The tree smashed the car's windscreen and damaged its bonnet, but luckily nobody was hurt.
Local attractions have also been forced to close due to the weather, including Tittesworth Reservoir.
A spokesperson for the Reservoir said: "Due to the incoming storm we have taken the decision to close the site.
"There are weather warnings in the area and for the safety of our visitors and staff the sites will be closed.
"We aim to get our sites open as quickly as possible after the storm has passed, and will be checking the trails and buildings to ensure the site is safe so this may take a little bit of time."
Nub News reported previously how a weather warning issued for Leek and many other parts of the country was upgraded from yellow to amber as the Met Office predicted the storm to become more severe.
A yellow weather warning for ice is also in place for Leek tonight until tomorrow morning (Saturday 19th February).
Weather warnings for wind and rain are in place for other parts of the country for the rest of the weekend, but Leek is not included in these.
