Officers are appealing for information after a Land Rover and a tipper truck with tools were stolen from outside a property in Leek.

Officers were called to an address near Newcastle Road at 3.15am on Friday (28 January).

Offenders targeted a Ford Transit tipper vehicle containing tools when they found the keys to a blue Land Rover Discovery in the tipper.

Both vehicles were stolen and the Land Rover was located a short time later in the Burslem area.

The tipper vehicle is still outstanding.

In order to protect yourself and your vehicles from keyless vehicle thefts, officers advise:

  • Consider purchasing a key security pouch (also known as a Faraday pouch) to keep your car entry devices in while inside the house. These block the ability of thieves to access the key signal
  • Always check your car doors have locked after pressing your key fob
  • Park in a garage if possible, or another secure area, where it is difficult to get the car out if accessed
  • Consider using a steering wheel lock.
Further information on how to keep vehicles safe can be found on the Staffordshire Police website. Anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage at the time of the thefts should contact Staffordshire Police on Facebook, Twitter or call 101, quoting incident number 051 of 28 January. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
