Plans are almost complete for the return of Leek's 'Party in the Park' event, and this year it will also be celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.

The event is being held on Sunday June 5th from 12pm - 5.30pm, which is also the bumper four day Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.

There will be a funfair, live music, a giant water slide and much more for people to enjoy in Brough Park.

A spokesperson for Leek Town Council explained more about the upcoming event.

They said: "Plans are well advanced for the welcome return of 'Party in the Park'.

"On the Sunday of The Platinum Jubilee weekend, Leek Town Council will be hosting the event in Brough Park.

"The bandstand will be the venue for a whole range of bands, celebrating the town's live music scene over the decades. Expect some very special guests.

"Moorlands Radio will be on hand so why not bring a chair, buy a drink from the bar, and settle back to enjoy some of Leek's finest.

"Or you can take the giant water slide down to the bottom of the park, where John Collins Funfair will be in full swing.

"Our marquee will be hosting a range of our valued community groups, so find out what's going on and maybe get involved.

"The event starts at noon so there's plenty of chance to visit the Sunday Supplement's Maker's Market in the morning. Stock up with picnic food, and browse dozens of stalls from our local independent traders. All in the main street just a few minutes walk from the park.

"It's going to be unmissable!"
