Leek Town FC marked their first game on their brand new 3G pitch with an impressive 3 - 0 win over the weekend.
Our local team beat Kendal Town at home on Saturday in front of a crowd of over 500 as the players got their first chance of competitive action on the all new artificial pitch.
Goals from Will Saxon, Tim Grice and Danny Trickett-Smith saw the home side get off to a dream start on the new pitch, with a clean sheet making the victory even sweeter.
Leek Nub News reported previously how the state of the art pitch, which is worth over £600,000, will be made available for use by the local community after an update to the club's planning application was approved.
The agreement states that the pitch will be made available for community use at the following times:
Monday - Friday: 10am - 10pm
Saturday: 10am - 1pm
Sunday: 10am - 10pm
These times are subject to the club not requiring the pitch for first team league or cup games on any day.
The pitch will be available for use by organised sports clubs, community groups and for casual use, meaning anybody can book the pitch up to seven days in advance for use on a pay-as-you-play basis, where space is available.
One of the benefits of the artificial pitch is that it allows for more regular use than real grass, and this will come in handy with Leek Town FC now due to play again at home tomorrow (Tuesday 26th October).
They will be facing Prescot Cables in the Northern Premier League West, kick off 7:45pm.
