Leek quiz night raises over £1,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Leek residents came together for a great cause last week after a virtual quiz night raised over £1,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The fundraiser was inspired by 10-year-old Florence, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, and decided to run 10 fundraising events of her own after finding out how expensive treatment can be.

Florence has to take a drug called Orkambi four times a day, which costs £250,000 per year, or over £100 per pill.

After finding out how much the treatment costs, she decided to begin fundraising for the charity so other children could have the chance to access it.

The quiz was hosted by local resident Ben Knight, who has been using the Speedquizzing platform to keep Leek households entertained throughout lockdown.

Last week Leek Nub News reported how residents geography knowledge was put to the test in an "Are you smarter than a 4-year-old?" flags and countries quiz.

And another charity quiz recently raised hundreds for a Leek lad's USA football scholarship.

This latest quiz raised a grand total of £1,040 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

A GoFundMe for Florence has been set up, and if you would like to donate, click here.
