A Leek pub has been granted permission to install an automatic number plate recognition system (ANPR) in its car park.
The Roebuck Inn on Derby Street was given permission to install the new tech by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council this week.
The application was submitted by a Mr Jaden Fish from ParkingEye, who prepared a statement as part of the application.
It explains that the technology will be used to "monitor the entrance and exit of vehicles within the specified car park", which contains 17 parking bays.
It aims to "reduce car park abuse and ensure that spaces are available for genuine site users".
The statement concludes: "The equipment used for the proposed development will be of a standard specification and be as environmentally sensitive as possible in terms of design.
"The scheme has been located on an area of land that is already used for car parking and as such will not significantly impact upon visual or landscape receptors.
"The proposal will ensure that the existing car park is used more effectively and reduce the amount of abuse that currently occurs."
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's planning officers approved the application, concluding that the plans complied with all of the council's relevant policies.
