A Leek boy has raised hundreds of pounds for charity after finally having his haircut to donate it to a charity that provides wigs for young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses.

We reported previously how Faris Edge, aged nine, had been growing his hair since 2020.

This weekend he finally had it cut, with the hair being donated to the Little Princess Trust and hundreds of pounds being raised in the process.

And the two years of growth was well worth it, resulting in around 10 inches of hair being donated following the cut.

Faris was also using his hair growing challenge to raise money for his school, St Mary's Primary School in Leek, the Mary's Meals charity and the Little Princess Trust.

The fundraising has been a success, with over £300 expected to be raised in total.

Faris' mum Marie said ahead of his haircut: "Faris decided he wanted to do something to help others. In 2020 he started growing his hair, so he could donate it to the Little Princess Trust, so wigs could be made for children suffering from cancer.

"Its taken just over two years, during which he's been picked on for having long hair, called a girl, and been told to get his hair cut, but despite all this he has stuck with it. To say I'm proud is an under statement!"

She added after the haircut that it was an emotional experience but Faris was very happy with his new hairstyle!

Look through the pictures above to see Faris supporting some great causes by getting his first haircut in two years.
