With the weather forecast to pick up in the next fortnight, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to take care when out and about in the countryside and prevent the number of accidental fires needing to be attended.

Over the good weather spell that greeted the beginning of March, there were no fewer than eight secondary fires that occupied crews in the western part of the county alone.

Leek is the most expensive parish to live in out of all 43 Moorlands parishes when it comes to paying your council tax, according to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's website.

The council's website lists how much council tax residents pay in each of the district's parishes for 2021 - 2022, after Staffordshire's local authorities finalised their budgets for the year.

A senior councillor has called for reassurance that food parcels being sent out to disadvantaged Staffordshire families during the school holidays will contain healthy ingredients following criticism of provisions in other parts of the country.

Several parents hit out on social media earlier this year about the contents of some parcels sent out as part of a Government scheme. They were given to families of children who would receive free lunches at school, but were unable to attend during the latest lockdown.
