A popular Leek café has applied for a license to sell alcohol from its premises.

Mill Street Kitchen in Leek applied for a premises license to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council with the aim of being granted permission to serve alcohol from the café throughout the week.

If approved, the café will be allowed to serve alcohol at the following times:

- Monday: 11am to 3pm

- Tuesday: 11am to 3pm

- Wednesday: 11am to 3pm

- Thursday: 11am to 9pm

- Friday: 11am to 9pm

- Saturday: 9am to 9pm

- Sunday: 9am to 3pm

The café says it will be putting in place a range of measures to ensure public safety, including using the 'Challenge 25' system and supplying free water or coffee at the end of the night, as well as refusing to serve customers who are too drunk and keeping noise to a minimum.

The application is currently under a public consultation period until June 26th.
