Covid vaccine appointments still available for over 18s in Leek
People aged 18 or over in Leek are being asked to book a vaccine as soon as possible at a local pop-up clinic running until next week.
Those who live in Leek or have links to Leek schools can book their first dose at the Leek Moorlands Hospital (Sadler Ward) pop-up until June 16. People who work in Leek can now also book at the pop-up clinic. Daytime and some evening and weekend slots are available.
The vaccine pop-up has been organised by the NHS following the recent outbreak in Leek and confirmation of more than 40 cases of the Delta Variant of Concern. Appointments can be booked online or by calling 01785 898844.
Dr Johnny McMahon, Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Support Member for Public Health, urged young people to play their part by getting vaccinated as soon as possible as well as getting tested regularly.
Johnny said: "Cases of the Variant of Concern are still rising in the area so it's crucial we act fast to get it under control and protect our community. One way of doing this is offering out the vaccine to more age groups and getting more first doses in the arms of younger people.
"This is an amazing opportunity for 18-24 years olds in Leek to get their first dose booked in before the national eligibility comes down. We're working hard with partners to be able to offer this but it is only available for a few more days, so please book your appointment today."
People who work in Leek or have children attending a school in Leek, but live outside of the town will need to bring some form of evidence of their connection to their appointment e.g. proof of employment or registered pupil.
People are advised to keep checking back to the website as further dates will be added to book once appointment slots have been confirmed.
Anybody aged 25 or over can now book their vaccine via the national portal or by calling 119.
