Police issue fresh appeal after Leek paramedic has bike stolen while at work
Police are re-appealing for information after a student paramedic from Leek had his bike stolen from an ambulance hub in Stoke-on-Trent while he was at work.
We reported previously how Liam Ticehurst, from Leek, was out responding to patients on an emergency ambulance when his bike was stolen from Stoke ambulance hub.
The bike, which Liam used to get to work, was worth around £2,500 and also had sentimental value as it was bought with money left to him by his grandmother.
Now police have issued a new appeal in an effort to track down the thieves.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said today: "Officers were called to the West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust premises on Forge Lane, Etruria, just before 5pm on Monday (29 August).
"A witness reported seeing a man enter the premises and use bolt croppers to cut the bike's lock.
"The offender was seen with two other men wearing masks and black clothing.
"They left the scene with the stolen bike and headed in the direction of Lanehead Road.
"The stolen bike is described as a blue Merida Reacto 5000 and having fulcrum wheels with 25mm tyres.
"The incident happened between 4.45pm and 5pm on Monday (29 August).
"Inquiries are ongoing.
"If you have any information, CCTV/dashcam footage that could help the police with their inquiries, contact us on Facebook, Twitter, or call 101, quoting incident number 540 of 29 August.
"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
We reported previously how a fundraiser was been launched on the crowdfunding site GoFundMe with the aim of paying for a new bike for Liam.
And thanks to the amazing generosity of local people, a total of £2,200 was raised!
