Police appeal after air ambulance lands in Leek following "very bad smash"

Police have appealed for information after an air ambulance was called to attend a "very bad smash" in Leek.
The air ambulance was called in following a collision on the A520 Cheddleton Road in Leek just after 4pm this afternoon.
The road was closed in both directions due to the accident near Birchall Playing Fields.
A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
Leek resident Paul Shepherd, who witnessed the crash, told Nub News: "There's been a big smash outside Leek Golf Club. I couldn't get through. Police told me it was a very bad smash.
"The road is closed and they are turning people back around the roundabout at the playing fields.
"The air ambulance has just landed in the golf course."
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team said: "Officers on patrol reported a collision on Cheddleton Road, Leek, opposite the golf club.
"The collision happened at approximately 4.15pm and involved a black Peugeot 107. It is believed the car collided with a parked silver Chevrolet Lumina.
"The driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.
