A family sized dormer bungalow is to be constructed on an unused side garden area in Cheddleton after a new planning application was approved.
We reported back in January how plans were submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council by a Mr Chris Daniels, and seek permission for: "Erection of a detached dormer bungalow on the side garden area of Lansdowne".
The bungalow will be constructed on an unused area of Green Belt land next to an existing house on Station Road, and would include a lounge, kitchen and dining area, garage, and two to three bedrooms. There would also be a "substantial private garden and patio area".
A statement submitted to the council as part of the application discussed the bungalow plans in further detail.
It said: "The existing house was acquired by Kevin Cooper and Chris Daniels in October 2021. It is proposed to renovate and update the existing house and erect a new detached dormer bungalow in the garden area to the side.
"The proposed dwelling would provide quality family accommodation with two to three bedrooms and one bathroom, a good sized lounge, modern kitchen and dining facilities and a good sized integral garage.
"The garden area serving the existing house is large compared with the footprint of the dwelling. It is the perfect opportunity to provide a family good quality accommodation."
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's planning officers have now approved the application.
A report prepared by the council's planning officers concluded: "The housing development would not be inappropriate and harmful to the Green Belt and it would be compatible with the Local Plan 'other rural area' strategy for the provision of rural housing.
"With consideration of impacts on character and appearance, the living conditions of existing and future occupiers, and highway safety, there are no adverse impacts that would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits associated with the provision of a new dwelling. There would be no conflict with the local plan policies listed above or the terms of the NPPF."
