Hardware and DIY retailer Toolstation has announced the opening date for it's new store in Leek.

The Leek branch will be opening very soon, in only a few days on Monday 20th December.

The opening hours for the store will be 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm Saturdays and 9am to 4pm Sundays.

Leek Nub News reported previously how Staffordshire Moorlands District Council approved a change of use for Leek's old Halfords building on Broad Street.

Toolstation were granted permission to take over the building after the application was approved.

It's expected that the new use for the building will create between five to eight jobs.

A report by the council's officers discussing the plans said: "The proposal would bring a beneficial end use to a building vacant for in excess of twelve months and would support the economic trading conditions and employment in the town.

"Although a different planning use, in reality the characteristic effects of the undertaking at the location would be very similar to those of the previous retail store use."
