Staffordshire residents who have been enjoying time with family and friends are being encouraged to keep getting tested for Covid and get vaccinated as soon as they can as we head into 2022.
With people now looking forward to celebrating the New Year, the county council has called for everyone to remain extra vigilant and stick to the guidance in the days ahead.
They have encouraged people to take a lateral flow test shortly before meeting up with people and booking a PCR test if you have any symptoms, however mild.
Dr Richard Harling, Staffordshire County Council's Director of Health and Care, said: "With more people mixing together, we are expecting to see cases rise even further.
"The best way to bring these numbers down is to identify anyone who may have the virus so they can isolate and reduce the risk of spreading it to others.
"So, please do everything you can to reduce the risk to yourselves and others by taking a rapid test before meeting up, getting a PCR test if needed, keeping rooms well ventilated and wearing a face covering when required."
People are also encouraged to get vaccinated and get their booster as soon as they can – with walk in clinics available today and the rest of the week.
Vaccination appointments can be booked via the NHS website and local walk-in clinic information can be found on the Together We're Better Staffs and Stoke website.
More information on national restrictions and advice can be found on the Government website.
