A vacant Leek shop could soon be given a new lease of life following the submission of a new planning application.
The plans would see the John Riley carpet and bed shop on Fountain Street in Leek being converted into a bathroom and tile shop.
The plans were submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council by a Mr C Morrison, and seek permission to change the shop's frontage, as well as demolish a rear extension.
A design and heritage statement submitted on behalf of the applicant reads: "The rear steel structure of the shop remains vacant with the rest of the building, however with the demolition and front changes the rear will be used as a show room to accompany the front of shop.
"The additional space that the demolition will create will be renovated into a yard. The front of shop will also be changing to a modern look adding to the rest of the shops on the street."
The front would be painted blue, and new signs reading "Moorlands Tile & Bathroom Co. LTD" would be installed.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council will make the final decision on the plans at a later date.
