Leek residents turned out in high numbers to pay their tributes to those who gave their lives in the Armed Forces this weekend.

The commemorations took place yesterday on Remembrance Sunday (14th November), and included the traditional parade from the church to the Nicholson War Memorial, organised by Leek Town Council working with the Leek branch of the Royal British Legion.

There was also an afternoon event with a service and the laying of wreaths.

The afternoon event included a service at The Priory on Abbots Road at 2pm, and then a parade down to the Ball Haye Green Memorial for a service and wreath laying.

A spokesperson for Leek Town Council said: "Remembrance ceremonies have taken place at each of the town memorials.

"St Edwards church and Leekbrook on the 11th November and at the Nicholson Memorial and Ball Haye Green on Remembrance Sunday.

"As we stand here proud and free.

"We honour those who gave their lives for democracy."
