A Leek fire crew took on a job slightly outside their usual remit this week - rescuing a bull that had become trapped in a canal.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue specialist animal rescue unit from Leek was part of the crew tasked with freeing a bull that had become trapped in the Cauldon Canal in Norton on Wednesday (13th July).
They joined a specialist water rescue unit from Newcastle and a crew from Sandyford to rescue the bull.
Luckily the team were able to get the bull safely back onto dry land unharmed.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spoke more about the job.
They said: "You will not bull-ieve a job we got called to yesterday!
"A crew from Sandyford accompanied by a specialist water rescue unit from Newcastle and an animal rescue unit from Leek all came to the rescue of a young bull who had fallen into Caldon Canal near Long Butts Farm in Norton yesterday afternoon.
"We're pleased to report that the bull is safely back on dry land thanks to our crews and the local farmer."
Group Manager Dermot Hogan, who attended the incident, added: "We were told upon attendance that the animal was only young – I'm now concerned as to what a full-grown one would look like up close!"
