Despite the extreme heat there were still plenty of people who came out to see the Queen's baton relay visit Leek yesterday!
The relay arrived at Rudyard Lake at around 5pm, where a flotilla of boats accompanied the baton bearer across the water.
Children from Horton St Michael's Primary School performed a song from the Jungle Book in honour of the Lake's namesake, Rudyard Kipling.
The relay then moved on to Leek town centre after Rudyard at around 6.30pm.
It started on Stanley Street before running down Derby Street, turning left onto Bath Street, then onto Stockwell Street and finishing with a celebration in Market Place.
The following roads will be closed 4-7pm: Stanley Street, Sheep Market, Russell Street, Derby Street (including access via Sparrow Park) and Bath Street.
The final stop on Tuesday was at Alton Towers where the baton took the ride of its life on the Oblivion rollercoaster – with a high vantage point to capture an iconic shot of the Staffordshire Moorlands.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Moorlands District Council said: "Wow what a day - the day the Queens Baton Relay came to the Moorlands!
"As part of it's journey it climbed to the top of the Roaches, sailed across Rudyard Lake, ran a relay through the streets of Leek and went on the ride of it's life at Alton Towers.
"Massive thanks to each and every one of you who came out to cheer on the Batonbearers who had all been nominated as a result of the fantastic work they do in their communities and for charity!"
