Small businesses in Staffordshire can learn how they can grow their operations and increase productivity through a new county programme.

Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce have together launched the initiative which offers businesses advice on how to get the most out of digital technology.

The Information Technology Business Enhancement Programme (ITBEP) will bring in two digital advisors to share their expertise.

This could be anything from using social media, setting up an e-shop or using accounting software. Sometimes businesses are so busy doing the 'day job' it can help to have someone to give impartial advice.

Staffordshire County Council's deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills Philip White said: "It is vital for small businesses to be able to operate effectively online and the pandemic has really put a focus on increasing digital skills.

"We appreciate that many do not have the experience or confidence when using online business tools and so we'd urge people to make the most of this service.

"It's part of our wider support programme through our Staffordshire Means Back to Business strategy and it will help businesses maintain a competitive edge as they move forward."

The programme supports the government's UK Digital Strategy which seeks to help businesses be more productive through the adoption of digital technologies. It is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Businesses should contact digital advisor Alan Bloomfield on 07593 528607 or email: [email protected]
