Where does Leek rank in the UK's nicest places to live?

For 2022, Knutsford-based property consultant Garrington have published a list ranking 1,372 cities, towns and villages in the UK based on how nice they are to live in.

So where does Leek rank in their list?

Leek has placed at number 529 overall out of the 1,372 areas that were analysed across the UK.

Sadly that's a drop of 291 places compared to last year with the town ranking at 238 in 2021 - have they not seen our lovely architecture and countryside?

The town placed high in terms of natural beauty - coming in 427th place.

However, its ranking was brought down by its quality of life, which placed at 927th.

But its architectural beauty ranked very highly in 215th place out of the 1,372 areas.

But the town only ranked in 931st place for its greenness.

The report also revealed that the average family home in the town costs less than £350,000 giving it a rank of 226th out of the 661 areas in the same price band.

It also ranked as the 8th best place to live in Staffordshire out of the 28 areas that were analysed in the county - a significant drop as last year it was 1st!

Meanwhile Cheddleton received a ranking of 24th in Staffordshire and 1,015th in the UK, performing well in natural and architectural beauty but receiving lower ranks in quality of life and greenness.

The nicest place to live in Staffordshire this year was named as Kinver, which placed 242nd out of 1,372.

However, the least nice place to live in Staffordshire was Loggerheads, coming in as low as 1,145th out of 1,372.

Elsewhere in the Moorlands, Biddulph ranked 14th in Staffordshire and 682nd in the UK, whereas Cheadle ranked 22nd in Staffordshire and 973rd in the UK.

The report claimed the nicest place to live in the whole of the UK was Bath, with the rest of the top 5 being made up by Lyme Regis, Salisbury, Caton and Kidwelly.
