Breaking: Motorists asked to avoid Leek road due to multi-vehicle collision

Motorists have been asked to avoid driving down a road in Leek this evening (Monday 8th August) due to a multi-vehicle collision.

Police say a crash has taken place on the A523 Buxton Road in Leek and emergency services are currently in attendance.

Police are currently working to set up a diversion so motorists can take an alternate route.

This is a breaking story and we will bring you more information as we get it.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team said: "Drivers are being advised to avoid Buxton Road A523 in Leek while emergency services attend the scene of a multi-vehicle collision.

"A diversion will shortly be in place.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time."

An an update they said: "The A53 Buxton Road in Leek is currently closed at the junction of Thorncliffe Road to the junction of the Three Horseshoes Country Inn, while emergency services continue to deal with a multi-vehicle collision.

"Drivers are being asked to continue to avoid the area."
