Boris Johnson has weighed in on a bid to reopen the Leek to Stoke railway line after being asked about the plans earlier today (Wednesday).
The PM was asked about the line's potential restoration at this week's Prime Minister's Questions in Parliament.
Leek Nub News reported previously how local MPs and council leaders have supported the reopening bid after it was submitted to government as part of the Restoring Your Railway Fund which was launched by the Department for Transport last year.
And today Stoke-on-Trent South MP Jack Brereton asked Boris Johnson to respond to the bid in Parliament.
He said: "In restoring the Stoke to Leek line, will the Prime Minister agree with me that investment from this Government has the potential to restore our local railways and cement our position as one of the best connected places in the whole of the UK?"
The Prime Minister's brief response explained that a decision on the bid would be made over the summer.
He said: "The bid for restoring the Stoke to Leek line is currently being assessed by the Department of Transport, and you can expect an outcome in the summer."
