"Hurt and devastation" after Leek travel company's buses smashed by vandals

Local News by Jack Lenton 22nd Mar 2021

A Leek travel company has spoken of their "hurt and devastation" after their buses were smashed up by vandals, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Aimee's Travel, a local family run business, posted images of their buses on social media on Saturday with windows smashed, handles torn off, and a range of other damage caused.

The company estimates that over £40,000 worth of damage was done to their vehicles, and are now worried that it could "finish us as a company".

A spokesperson said: "We have had a large amount of vandalism carried out this afternoon at our yard where are vehicles are stored.

"Around 10-15 younger people were spotted in our compound and when we went to take a look around our hearts sunk, around 10 windows smashed and also one of our vehicles that is used to transport special needs children to school has also been destroyed.

"If anyone has any information or any sightings today please could you let us know, all your help will be appreciated.

"Over £40,000 pounds worth of damage has been carried out this afternoon and this is enough to finish us as a company.

"Anyone who has any information if you could contact us or Staffordshire Police, every little will help.

"Last time we had our vehicles damaged it was been sent all over social media, Snapchat and other platforms."

They added: "To whoever had done this I hope that you are proud of yourselves, the hurt, devastation and upset you have caused is unreal and you don't deserve the air you breathe!

"On Monday morning there will be children and special needs children without transport that they rely on daily to take them to school! Thankyou in advance to anyone who has any information."

An online fundraiser has since been set up in aid of the company, with almost £1,000 being raised so far at the time of writing. If you would like to donate click here.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident, and anyone with information should contact Staffordshire Police quoting incident 648 of March 20.
