Karen Bradley: In this week's column on Nub News, the Moorlands MP has reacted to one million Coronavirus vaccines being delivered in Staffordshire.
Last week, the local vaccination team in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent put their one millionth vaccine into someone's arm. This is a phenomenal achievement and I pay tribute to everyone involved who have, in under six months, been able to vaccinate so many people across our county. It is because of the success of the vaccine programme that this week we moved into Step Three of the PM's Roadmap out of lockdown. We are now able to see loved ones indoors and enjoy indoor hospitality for the first time since before Christmas last year. In this Step of the Roadmap, more emphasis is being put on personal responsibility rather than so many strict rules. I think we all now know how to avoid catching and passing on COVID-19 and will, I am sure do all we can including regular testing and having a vaccine when invited to do so. However, although we can now meet up with family and friends, it is still not possible to hold large events. I know just how hard this past year has been for many people in the Moorlands, so I thought that we all need an afternoon of getting together at my first Virtual Senior Tea Dance, which will be on Friday at 3pm. The three tea dances that I hosted in the past were so much fun, I thought we should try a virtual one. As with my virtual coffee morning during lockdown, we are asking everyone to have their tea and cakes ready. The Biddulph Ukulele Group, who have entertained us before, will be performing and there will be a quiz testing local knowledge.
