Many thanks to Richard Cordon from Leek Hockey Club for submitting this match report! Here's how Leek got on in their away game at Nottingham club Boots.

Boots 1st 0 v 2 Leek Mens 1st

The second fixture of 2022/23 season of the Midlands Premier Division saw Leek on the road to Nottingham based club Boots. After a successful 4-1 home win against West Bridgford last week, Leek looked to improve on their first week performance.

Within the opening minutes Leek created the first meaningful opportunity of the game in the form of a short corner. Ben White dispatched from the top giving leek the lead Another quick start from the 1st team. The first ten minutes followed much in the same vein with Leek well in control and creating multiple opportunities. Off the pitch events resulted in Leek having to be reduced to 10 men for the remainder of the game with just 11 minutes gone in the first half.

Leek unfazed by the events and a man down continued to apply pressure and create chances. It wasn't long till Elliot White got in behind the Boots defence and was able to square the ball back to his brother Ben White for his and Leeks second on the 22 minute mark.

Leek went into the second half with a two goal cushion. . Although creating plenty of chances Leek were unable to increase their lead, but a solid structure and high work rate saw Boots unable to create any meaningful opportunities on the Leek goal. After a questionable umpiring decision Leek saw O'Neill receive a yellow for what seemed to be a clean tackle. Awarded a short corner Boots looked to convert but Adam Knott and his defence dealt with the threat with easily. Boots keeper continued to frustrate the Leek attacking line seemingly unbeatable in the second half.

Full time and a second 3 points secured in difficult circumstances by a professional team performance.
