Paying for parking in Staffordshire Moorlands District Council car parks just got easier thanks to the introduction of digital payments.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has launched the PayByPhone scheme at all its car parks as an alternative method of payment to the cash pay and display machines.

Users just need to download an app or register online to pay via their mobile phone or, if you don't have a smartphone, you can call 0330 400 7275 or text 65565. Each car park has a unique location number displayed on the ticket machines which needs to be quoted when paying.

Councillor James Aberley, Cabinet member for Customer Services, said: "We're delighted to introduce PayByPhone for drivers using our car parks across the Moorlands.

"People have long been telling us they wanted more payment options so it's great to now have phone payments up and running. I sure people will find it quick and convenient - and it saves the search for the right coins!

"We're supporting our high streets, businesses and visitor attractions to thrive and making paying for parking as easy as possible is just one of the ways we're doing that. Further improvements to the car parking experience, including introducing card payment options, will be coming in over the coming months too."

Other benefits of the system include removing the need to display a ticket in your vehicle and you don't need to rush back if your time is running out - you can get text message reminders and extend your parking session from your phone.
