Wilko has announced a big change to its in-store policies: pets are now allowed at over two-thirds of its stores around the UK, and their store here in Leek is included.

The policy has been popular with owners of dogs and other pets, with its announcement on social media receiving over 16,000 'likes'.

A spokesperson for Wilko said: "A pet is more than just a pet, they're family. That's why we've decided to welcome pets in-store at 248 of our locations.

"We hope that shoppers will enjoy bringing their furry friends along with them.

"Please check for new signage at the entrance of your local store to see if they are participating."

At the time, Wilko did not confirm which of its stores would be welcoming pets, but they have since confirmed which stores are included in the new policy, and Leek is on the list.

Leek's branch of Wilko is located on Brook Street and is open from 8am - 6pm from Monday to Saturday, and 10am - 4pm on Sunday.
