Though she may be small, therapy dog Millie certainly has a big presence when it comes to helping staff and officers who are feeling under pressure or stressed.

The cavapoo – a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Toy Poodle – recently visited Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and proved to be a hit with staff.

Millie is owned by Michelle Moores, Welfare Manager at Staffordshire Police.

And one of those staff members who met Millie was Emma Holley, Cohort Lead at Staffordshire Police. She said: "Once Millie met staff, their faces lit up. Millie made everyone stop what they were doing for five minutes and staff called her over.

"Millie visited police student officers in the classrooms and staff at both Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Staffordshire Police HQ to brighten up their day.

"We plan to bring Millie to our next group of Professional Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF) students in the next few weeks to give them a break from learning.

"Millie will also visit police staff on the same day as part of her stay."

Rachel Jordan, PEQF Senior Cohort Lead at Staffordshire Police, added: "The impact 'Millie' had was amazing.

"It was evident to see that when she was there moods and spirits lifted.

"It put a smile on faces and brought about a general feel of calm - really impactive and no doubt greatly received by all.

"I would like to thank Michelle Moores for the loan of 'Millie'.

"It must be difficult handing over your beloved pet, however, knowing the impact she has on people must be really reassuring.

"Millie is a wonderful dog and one that does her job so well.

"Staff had a truly wonderful experience."
