Warning to residents after mail "stolen" from Leek post box

Residents have been warned to take care when using Leek's post boxes following reports of mail being stolen.

The warning comes after a local resident and business owner said none of her customers had received their items, two weeks after posting them in the post box on Junction Road.

They explained that none of the items had been reaching the sorting office despite being tracked - with the lost items coming in at a cost of hundreds of pounds.

Police and the Royal Mail are reportedly investigating, and residents have been asked to be vigilant in the mean time.

The resident said: "I just wanted to warn some people about the post box built in the cemetery wall on junction road.

"Mail has been getting stolen from there, it's only a small post box and every time I post my items the post box is full to the brim.

"None of my customers have received their items in nearly two weeks.

"Police have been informed and are looking into this as are Royal Mail too.

"All my items are tracked and they are not even reaching the sorting office.

"Just a heads up for anyone who uses that post box too. I hope they are happy with themselves as they have cost me hundreds of pounds."
