The Staffordshire Best Kept Village and Community competition has announced its 2022 winners.

Bargain Hunt TV star Richard Winterton of Richard Winterton Auctioneers of Lichfield sponsored the event and announced the winners in Stafford. The north of the county saw Moorlands village Ipstones, which is just outside Leek, win the CPRE Sustainable and Green Initiative competition.

Brewood was the star of the competition winning both the Large Village and Community Spirit awards. It was a good night for south Staffordshire with Acton Trussell announced as the Best Small Village. There was also a special award for competition stalwart William Read of Stafford who celebrates 50 years of Best Kept Village judging.

BKVC Manager Jo Cooper said: "After many years of simply judging the beauty of villages, the new BKVC format wishes to also illustrate the community spirit.

"We had a children's poster, spirit of BKVC poetry, prose and photography awards and of course the new Community Spirit competition. Every entrant has, as usual, highlighted their sense of pride of being part of a village making judging very difficult. It was a tight call and I'd like to say thank you to every entrant for participating and many congratulations to all our winners. "

Richard Winterton Auctioneers are again headline sponsors. Star of BBC TV's Bargain Hunt Winterton Auctioneers CEO Richard Winterton said: "We've been honoured and delighted to sponsor the Best Kept Village Community competition and see first-hand how communities across Staffordshire have come together and continued to thrive. There has been a high calibre of entries so well done to everyone who has got involved."
