Two arrested on suspicion of assault and GBH after Leek town centre incident

Two people have been arrested following "reports of a domestic related incident" in Leek town centre today.

Police were called to Haywood Street in Leek this morning (Monday 28th February) following reports of the incident.

Three police cars were seen pictured parked near the Aldi supermarket and Crown store on Haywood Street just before midday.

A man and a woman have now been arrested on suspicion of assault and grievous bodily harm, and remain in custody.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police told Nub News: "Police were called at 11.20am this morning (28 February) to Haywood Street, Leek, following reports of a domestic related incident.

"A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and a 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

"They both remain in custody at this time."
