As inflation soars and recession looms, people in Leek are in need for a bit of financial support.
And here is a trio of good causes in Leek which could use some financial backing right now.
From charities to individuals, here are three crowdfunders from Leek you can pledge to today.
Christmas Cash
A group of Leek businesses are once again clubbing together to raise money and gift donations for a local appeal for families struggling financially after another difficult year.
Dave Swarbrook and Mark Brammar, from the Creative Hub at the Foxlowe Arts Centre, are coordinating the appeal along with the Fox & Crow Gallery, which is housed in the same building.
The gifts collected will be donated to an annual appeal at Haregate Community Centre, from where they will be distributed.
As well as gift donations, the pair are hoping to purchase gifts using donated cash from independent retailers in Totally Locally Leek.
Dave said: "This is our fourth year of gift donations to the Haregate Community Appeal. Businesses and individuals have been incredibly generous in the past but Mark and I are quite competitive so we are working hard towards raising a bigger total this year."
Laura Cottingham, manager at Haregate Community Centre, added: "We have contact through the centre with many families who are barely managing financially and are placed under even more pressure with the expense of Christmas.
"We collect gifts for children and young adults each year so that no one feels left out at Christmas.
"Last year the concerted effort from all the people at the Foxlowe added around 250 presents to our total and we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved to help make Christmas special for so many local families."
They just need £695 left of their crowdfunding campaign.
In Memoriam
A crowdfunder for a late Leek lad has been set up.
Beck Bromley passed away earlier this month.
The Leek teenager started at The University of Manchester last year.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for whom the family describe as "Everyone's best mate".
"Beck was an amazing, kind hearted and chilled out soul," said Bailey Goodwin.
"This is a fundraiser to help out his family and multiple mental health charities throughout time. Any donations are fully appreciated and will all support a good cause."
This one is almost at the goal. An amazing £8467 has been raised so far, with a goal of £10,000.
Church Crowdfunder
As warm hubs are popping up across the nation amid the cost of living and energy crisis, one Leek public building wants to become one.
St Edward's Church in Cheddleton dates back the 13th century. They now are crowdfunding to bring their building into the 21st century.
The campaign said: "We need to raise funds to install a new heating boiler, so we can offer a 'Warm Space' to anyone that needs it during daytime hours. We also provide hot drinks and snacks on a Mondays and Fridays from 10 am - 12noon and Wednesdays 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm."
"We are a Dementia Friendly Church and encourage people to come for a coffee and natter with like-minded individuals.
"On most Sundays, we hold a service from 10.30 am until 11.30 am and offer hot refreshments after.
"The heating system we currently have is very old, unreliable and costs such a lot to run.
"We have been quoted over £15,000 to replace the heating system, so need to ask if anyone could make a donation to help us reach our target of £15,000."
Cheddleton resident Amanda Kari is organising the crowdfunder.
St. Edwards Church is located on Hollow Lane, Cheddleton, Leek ST13 7HP.
