Moorlands MP Karen Bradley has welcomed the news that Staffordshire County Council has been successful in an application to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' Air Quality Grant Scheme 20-21.

Staffordshire County Council have been awarded £296,828 for air quality improvements.

The money is used for engagement with schools and businesses to encourage behaviour change to improve air quality, delivering events, promoting electric vehicles and working in partnership with local councils including Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Karen commented: "I am delighted to learn that Staffordshire County Council has been successful in their bid to the Air Quality Grant Scheme.

"Clean air is vital for people's health and the environment and tackling all sources of air pollution is essential for making sure our towns are welcoming places for people to live and work in."

Defra's Air Quality Grant Programme provides funding to local authorities to carry out projects in local communities to tackle air pollution and reduce emissions affecting schools, businesses and residents.

Nearly £70 million has been awarded through the Air Quality Grant since it was launched in 1997.
