Relief as Leek chippy unaffected after national brand goes into administration
By Jack Lenton 25th Nov 2021
Leek residents will be relieved to find out that a chip shop in the town is unaffected by its wider national brand going into administration.
The future of the George's Tradition fish and chip chain is hanging in the balance after the business announced that it has run out of money, piling up debts due to the planned launch of a new restaurant chain which never materialised.
The brand runs several fish and chip shops around the Derby and Nottingham areas.
However, there is a silver lining for Leek residents as a post on the company's website announcing the administration specifies that our town's chippy on Broad Street will not be affected.
This is due to the Leek chip shop being owned separately despite using the same branding.
The post says: "Rajnesh Mittal and Arvindar Jit Singh were appointed as Joint Administrators of Georges Tradition Limited and Georges Tradition (Belper) Limited on Monday 25 October 2021.
"The sites in Leek and Loughborough, which use the George's Tradition branding, are owned by separate, independent entities and are not impacted by the administration."
