Preparations are underway for Leek show ahead of it's hopeful start date of 31st July.

Leek Nub News reported last week how the show is hoping to return for 2021 after being cancelled last year due to coronavirus restrictions.

The event promises to be full of different organisations and activities as in previous years with a funfair, bar and the agricultural show.

In an update on the show's preparations, Eddie Sims, Show Chairman, said today: "As the organisers of Leek Show await the green flag from the powers that be, schedules are busy being prepared for the regular competitions which include livestock, poultry, dogs, horses and produce.

"We intend all sections to give a chance for youngsters to have a go at competitions and to get a foot on the showing ladder.

"To that end there are classes for young handlers of cattle and sheep, junior classes in the horse show and fun dog show.

"Youngsters can enter the produce competitions with vegetables and flowers they are growing in their gardens and exhibit their handicraft in the homecrafts section and floral art tent.

"The more energetic can enter the tug of war organised by the young farmers, who will have their own display area. You can also relax after to a jazz band before visiting the trade and craft stands."
