Covid-19 vaccines were available for young people at a walk-in clinic at Leek Moorlands Hospital yesterday (Sunday 7 November).
The clinic offered doses of the Pfizer vaccine to people aged 12-15 from 9am to 3:30pm with no appointment needed.
Anybody aged 12 and over is now eligible for the Covid vaccine. The 12-15 clinics give parents and guardians the option to get their children jabbed outside of school hours.
Cabinet Support Member for Public Health and Integrated Care, Dr Johnny McMahon, said: "Vaccination remains the best way to protect ourselves against Covid-19. People might think they're not at risk if they're younger or if they've already had Covid-19, but in both cases it is still vital to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
"This virus has not gone away and could still cause people of any age very serious health complications in the short-term and long-term. The sooner people get vaccinated the better, so please make use of this walk-in clinic if you are 12-15 and are yet to receive your first dose."
Parents and guardians need to attend vaccine clinics with their children as consent will be needed on the day.
