Upon arrival, officers found a white van in collision with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was conveyed to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Sadly, the man died in hospital a short time later.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries.
