Police have appealed for information after becoming aware of an alleged assault at Smithfield Bus Station in Leek.
Officers say that recent social media posts in local community groups have discussed the alleged assault.
However, they added that the incident has not been reported to police at this time.
They encouraged anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team said: "We are aware of recent posts on local community pages discussing an alleged assault at Smithfield Bus Station in Leek.
"At this time, no reports have been made to police but we ask anyone with any information to get in touch.
"DM us at @StaffsPolice, report online or call 101."
They have also warned families not to identify alleged offenders in social media posts in case it prejudices any future court case.
They added: "We would also like to remind our followers that publicly identifying those who you believe are responsible for a crime - through comments on social media - could undermine any potential prosecution and could also prejudice any future trial.
"It can also cause harassment and distress if misdirected to people who are not involved."
