Plans are getting underway to demolish a dilapidated building across the road from Leek's B&M store.

The building, which has been vacant for around 20 years and is now covered in vines, is located on Newcastle Road in Leek.

According to documents on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's planning portal, Caldene Properties have plans to demolish the building.

A demolition notice submitted to the council states: "The following notice to is to make the public aware that a prior notice has been handed to the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for the proposed demolition of 4 Newcastle Road, Leek in Staffordshire.

"The subject building is a former office space which has not been in use for circa 20 years."

However, the demolition cannot go ahead just yet as the council has determined that their prior approval will first be required.

The district council's planning officers said in a report: "The Council considers that "Prior Approval" is required for the demolition of the buildings and further information would need to be provided so that impacts can be properly assessed."

The council will then decide whether the building can be demolished after the applicant has returned with more information.
