A planning application to demolish a "run down" Cheddleton house and replace it with a new dwelling has been approved by the district council.
The plans were submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council by a Mr Steve Carding and relate to a house at Gorseydale on Cheddleton Heath Road.
A statement submitted as part of the application explains more about the plans.
It says: "The application seeks to replace the existing property with a modern, energy efficient property using modern methods of construction.
"This will provide a very energy efficient property of high quality with very little material wastage, often seen on building sites."
It adds: "The existing property is somewhat run down ... and the construction of this property will enhance the local area.
"The applicants have designed the property to allow for some independent living for one of their parents, who has recently become widowed - there is no intention of forming two separate dwellings under the guise of a single dwelling."
The plans were recently approved by Staffordshire Moorlands District Councils planning officers.
Approving the application, a report by the officers concluded: "The amended scheme would not harm the visual or residential amenities of the area and would not have any further impact on highway safety and would therefore comply with the Council's Local Plan (adopted September 2020) and is in line with the government planning guidance contained in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)."
