Moorlands MP Karen Bradley has joined other MPs in signing a letter to the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, asking him to consider a cut in duty for draught beer.
Mrs Bradley will be hosting a call with pubs in the Moorlands on 6th April at 2.30pm. Pubs that would like to join the call can register here.
The letter states that many pubs and clubs around the country are "struggling to survive" due to Coronavirus restrictions, and adds that "some will simply not reopen".
It adds that doing more to help pubs in the long term is "vital", and asks for a lower beer duty on draught sales in pubs, clubs and bars, compared to sales in supermarkets.
The letter notes that this "would be a huge boost to their ability to prosper and rebuild from Covid-19" and "demonstrate the Government's clear commitment to Britain's pubs".
The letter is signed by 76 MPs in total, with all of these being from the Conservative Party.
As well as Mrs Bradley, the letter is also signed by Iain Duncan Smith and Esther McVey, Nine MPs backed the letter anonymously.
For ales and lagers containing 5% alcohol, beer duty comes to 54p a pint, increasing for stronger beers and falling for weaker ones.
The Exchequer is forecast to take £12.7 billion from alcohol duties this year.
