The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in Leek as the heatwave is set to end with thunderstorms this weekend.

It comes after Leek Nub News reported how the weather agency sent out its first ever extreme heat warning for much of the country on Monday (19 July).

The yellow rain warning covers the entirety of southern England and Wales, including Leek as well as Hull, Sheffield, Stoke-on-Trent, Wrexham, and Aberystwyth.

In Leek the hot temperatures are set to last until the weekend before being cooled off by rain.

Rain showers will start on Saturday, with thunder currently forecast for Sunday.
