A young Moorlands footballer has become one of the area's best sporting prospects after breaking into the Stoke City first team following a positive start to the season.
Adam Porter, aged 19, made his senior debut for the Potters earlier this month in a 2-1 win for Stoke in the EFL cup.
Porter, who grew up in Biddulph and progressed through Stoke's academy since the age of six, recovered from an injury in the second half of last season to break into the first team in what he described as "a dream come true".
However, Biddulph isn't Porter's only local link, as he also spent time on loan with Moorlands team Leek Town, where he made three appearances in all competitions.
He regularly captains Stoke's under 23s team, and has also captained the other youth levels that he has represented for the club.
Until recently, he was a season ticket holder alongside his family members before breaking into the first team. He's also still a member of the Potters' Knypersley and Biddulph Supporters Club.
Further staking his claim to a place in the first team was a sublime performance for the under 23s against Birmingham City last week in which he scored two goals, the first being a cool finish from close range and the second being a fantastic 25-yard curler that bounced in off the post.
If Adam continues his impressive performances and nails down a place in the Potters' first team, he could have a chance at becoming Biddulph's greatest footballing talent since James Wilson, who enjoyed a spell in the Premier League with Manchester United, with his best season for the club coming in 2013-14.
Following a series of loan spells and transfers Wilson now plays in League Two for Stoke's rivals, Port Vale.
