This week's Sunday Supplement market in Leek town centre has been cancelled due to the poor weather conditions that have been forecast.

The market's operators say the forecast wind speeds are above the maximum that they are allowed to run the market with.

The market was due to take place this Sunday, but they are now hoping to return in March.

A spokesperson for the market said: "It is with a heavy heart that we have had to take the rare, and unpleasant, decision to cancel this Sunday's market.

"Unfortunately the forecast wind speeds/gusts are well above the maximum speeds we are allowed to operate the market under safely.

"This is a huge disappointment for us, our traders, and for our wonderful supporters and customers, and we thank you all for your continued support.

"We will hopefully be back in March with 70+ traders."
